ATLANTA TEA PARTY TO JOIN WITH COBB FOR METRO-WIDE TEA PARTY
JULY 3RD

Atlanta Tea Party in Gwinnett forced to cancel

Suwanee, GA. - The Atlanta Tea Party was forced to cancel it's Independence Day celebration in Gwinnett, after losing it's location due to the objection of Gwinnett Place Mall (a Simon company.) The Tea Party had been scheduled to take place in the parking lot of the old Macy's building at Gwinnett Place since March.

"It is unfortunate the event had to be canceled," said Julianne Thompson, event co-organizer. She continued, "The old Macy's building is on private property, and not owned by Simon Malls, however the mall manager asked the property owner and I to come in the office on Thursday of this week, and told us Simon does not want political events on it's property. They were also concerned about the fact we were using the term "protest." Although the event was on private property, the mall was able to assert authority on the matter due to recipricol property easement agreements."

Event Co-Chair Debbie Dooley stated, "Our Atlanta Tea Party team tried for the next day and a half to find an alternative location large enough for the event, and with the proper layout for our vendors, children's activities, and fireworks show, but we could not find anything suitable that would have been available on July 4th."

Thompson said, "We want to thank everyone in Gwinnett who worked hard to try to make this event a success: Judi Quigley, Bill Simon, Mark Williams (Printing Trade Company,) Kathy Hildebrand, Theresa Kenerly, Brett Harrell, and George Thorndyke (who was graciously allowing us to use his property free of charge, and sponsoring fireworks.) I also want to thank the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District for welcoming us to the area, and the Gwinnett and 7th District GOP for promising volunteers for the event."

Dooley stated, "The most important thing to do at this point is to stay on message, so we are joining forces with the Cobb for a large metro-area Tea Party on Friday, July 3rd, at 6 PM. The event is at Jim Miller Park at 2245 Callaway Road in Marietta. For information on the event, contact Cobb organizer Ben Mihalski at 770-726-7188, or visit http://www.cobbteaparty.com/ ."
If you are not in the Metro Atlanta area, then please attend a Tea party near you. For more information, please visit http://www.teapartypatriots.org/
Thompson added, "The Atlanta Tea Party has a great team and is already planning for the July 17th Tea Party Patriots Protests at Congressional offices all across Georgia over nationalized healthcare. We will work hard to make sure our voices are heard and our message is clear."

  1. Good Afternoon,

Who is the POC for the Jul 17 protests? I am interested voluntering to read, out loud, our Constitution and the Amendments. This is to have our Representatives and WASHINGTON pay attention to it! Most of the Representatives and Senators are not paying attention to the Consttitution or us and are out there grabing power for themselves!

  2. I think we should all call Gwinnett Place Mall and let them know that we won't be shopping at that establishment any more.

  3. I went to the April 15th tea party. There was no disturbance of property or real problems. So Simon's objections seem farcial since the host events at Lenox Square. I guess I'll vote with my pocket book when looking at shopping at Simon's properties.

  5. Why don't we just plan a sit-in at all of the Simon Malls in metro Atlanta. That would send a message.

  6. Boycott Simon Malls - Both Gwinnett Place and Mall of Georgia. Order online, Georgia Square Mall in Athens or any place other than these malls.

  8. I'm in Knoxville, so my opinion doesn't count, but sit-ins or some such sounds great. How about just going to the mall and sitting in the food court, or in the hallway, and just taking up space but not buying anything? If a lot of Atlanta showed up on the same day, wearing a flag, and just sat around in that mall, I think they would get the message.

  9. I'm with Trip C. I think the Atlanta Tea Party Patriots need to organize a sit-in at all Simon Malls and post a petition on this page to boycott all Simon Malls-esp.at holiday time. We can do our shopping online or at other non-Simon malls! This is a blatant power play by liberals and shouldn't go unnoticed!!! Some of us should get together and plan the sit-ins. Feel like reviving the 60s anyone??

  10. I contacted the Simon Property Group (you must too). They were very, very respectful, understanding and cordial, but you must keep on the heat! They offered to post a company statement due to the volume of calls. Spread the word and do NOT be silent

  12. We need to come out strong. We need to show numbers despite the holiday weekend. Everyone take photos and publish them on flicker, facebook, anywhere.

  14. go to www.simon.com/findamall

I live north of Dallas Texas. I will NOT be shopping at the several Simon properties in my area. They simon.com will get an email telling them just that in about two minutes. They need to stay in the retail business and STOP social / political engineering. There are other locations to choose from.

  15. I'm in complete belief that Obama and his Washing DC Cronies are out to destroy the country that we love.
First off he added trillions of dollar to the economy which will only drive the value of the dollar to nothing. Then he's adding taxes to the business' and more taxes to the energy we use which will only drive up the cost of goods and services. There by bankrupting this country.
Only then will we see his real agenda. The destruction of the constitution and the american dollar.
We will then be made part of the global goverment and the AMERO will replace the Dollar. The borders between Mexico and Canada will be wide open.
And with out the constitutional right to bear arms, all hell will break loose and america will be become another 3rd world country.
And that's right where they want us. Dependent on the goverment for all our needs.
It only took Hitler 6 years to destroy Germany. I believe Obama is doing it at a greater pace.
    May God Help us all!

  17. Maybe a little campaign of sending Tea bags to the CEO and Board of Directors of Simon Property Group is in order. Simon Property Group Inc. 225 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Melvin Simon is Chairman Emeritus, so it would be better to send them to Mr. David Simon, current Chairman and CEO. The stock ticker for them is SPG and you can go to Yahoo! Finance or Google Finance and get the names of all the key executives. Also, consider organizing, through the local authorities, using some Atlanta area lawyers willing to work pro bono so that you can do it all within the law, a protest and boycott of Gwinnett Place Mall and all of the other Simon Property Malls in the Greater Atlanta Area. Let them find out how much business comes from the fed up "Tea Partiers" they want to stifle. Fight back the way ACORN would. Unfortunately, that is what it has come to -- fighting fire with fire may be the only way.

  19. I found it interesting that as I awoke this morning (July 4th) and watched WSB news, there was a story about this Tea Party being cancelled. I missed the first part of the story because I was doing something on the computer, but decided I'd catch it either the next half hour or hour - whenever it came back on. HMMM. Guess what? It hasn't been back on. I figured the Peachtree Road Race was taking so much time that they weren't going to run it again. Try to do a search on WSB's web site. The story doesn't exist. I guess WSB yielded to pressure to not cover the story and to remove it from their archives. Vote with our pocketbook - don't shop at Simon Properties. Let them know that as well. Let their stores know that as well.
