Atlanta Tea Party Update March 29, 2009

As you are probably aware by now, Sean Hannity announced on his television show Friday that he will be broadcasting live from the Atlanta Tea Party. Since that time the other Atlanta Tea Party Coordinators and I have been inundated with phone calls and emails. Hopefully, this post will answer all your questions and explain our current monetary and volunteer needs.

IN THIS POST
A.) URGENT NEED: County Coordinator for each county in the Metro area
B.) URGENT NEED: Donations
C.) Atlanta Tea Party Details
D.) Weekly Conference Call
E.) Volunteers and What You Can Do to Help
F.) Carpools and Buses
G.) Protest Signs

Thank you very much for your interest in the Tea Party. If you have a question or comment that is not addressed in this email or in the website, please feel free to email or call me directly. I look forward to seeing you on Tax Day, April 15th.

Have a great day!

URGENT NEED: County Coordinator for each county in the Metro area

Responsibilities include:

~ Coordinate bus and/or carpooling to the event from county

~ Field phone calls and answer emails from volunteers and Tea Party Goers in county

~ Collect contact information from your emails and phone calls about Tea Party in spreadsheet format

~ Plan a Pre-Party to kick off caravan from your county to the State Capitol

~ Plan Meet and Greet Sign Making Party to happen on a Saturday before the Tea Party

We will provide you with a detailed check list and be there to help you plan. Also, we will team new volunteers with experienced political activists so you will not be all alone learning the ropes and you will have someone else to help you with the organization.

If you can volunteer as a County Coordinator, please email me (jennybethm@gmail.com) with the words County Coordinator ____ County in the subject line of the email. Using these words will help me quickly sort my email.

URGENT NEED: Donations

With the announcement of Sean Hannity’s live broadcast, we expect a much larger crowd than originally anticipated. We need to have a stage, speakers, large screen projectors, sign in tables, t-shirts, etc. We would very much like to have enough speakers and projectors that people who are further back in the crowd still have the ability to hear and see. To do this, we need money. We have a donation button on the right hand sidebar of the AtlantaTeaParty.net site.

Weekly Conference Call

We will have a weekly conference call on Monday nights at 7:30 to discuss the current details, let you know of new volunteer needs, and allow you to give suggestions and input. This is a grassroots movement and we want to make sure you have an opportunity for input.

If you would like to attend the conference call, please email me with RSVP Monday 7:30 in the subject line and I will send you the call in phone number.

Volunteers and What You Can Do to Help

We need volunteers for many different aspects of the event. The most pressing volunteer need is County Coordinators, which are mentioned above. Other volunteer needs include:

~ Teams to help County Coordinators organize the Pre-Party and the Meet and Greet in each respective County

~ Registration and Sign-In at demonstration

~ Foot Traffic Flow at demonstration

~ Potentially t-shirt sellers at demonstration

~ Letters to the editor for local media

~ Call in to local and national radio shows

~ Invite like-minded friends, family, and neighbors to attend the Tea Party with you

~ Print flyers to hand out to people you talk to on a daily basis inviting them to the Tea Party

~ Use shoe polish to write AtlantaTeaParty.net on the windows of your cars

If you can volunteer, please email me with the words VOLUNTEER ___ in the subject line of the email. In the blank type the way you can volunteer. Thanks. Using these words in the subject line will help me sort my email quickly.

Carpools and Buses

With the announcement of Sean Hannity’s live broadcast and the fact that there is a Braves game in town, we expect traffic to be even more of a nightmare than it normally is in Atlanta. Parking will not be easy either. We need to have as large of a turnout as possible at our event since it will be televised nationally. We want to make transportation and parking to the demonstration as easy as possible for the Atlanta Tax Day Tea Party Goers.

The County Coordinators will arrange a central meeting place in each county to kickoff your trip to the Capitol. County Coordinators will plan a special Pre-Party before leaving for the State Capitol. If you absolutely cannot go downtown, you will be able to participate in the Tax Day Tea Pre-Party. We are listing the County Coordinators on Atlanta Tea Party website (http://atlantateaparty.net/).

Having buses and caravans arriving from all over the state will help us get additional press coverage and will get attention of people passing on the expressway. We are asking everyone who is not volunteering at the event to ride with the caravan from their county to the State Capitol.

Protest Signs

The Tea Party is a protest of irresponsible and out of control government spending. The major theme for the Tax Day Tea Party is “Repeal the Pork. Cut Taxes.” We encourage you to bring your own handmade protest signs to the Tea Party. For specific sign ideas, I will update the AtlantaTeaParty.net site in the next day or so. Please watch it for sign ideas.

Protest signs that are not in line with theme of the event will asked to be removed at the demonstration. Such signs include but not limited to: campaigning, racially inappropriate slogans, anything that suggests violence or unlawful activity, and/or partisan slogans.

  1. I'm an American taxpayer - and not spam. I have a goal to reach all tax paying Americans to help us all get our money back. Please sign and forward this eMail to everyone you know.

Hello United States Working-Class! I hear you!

Well... I don't have a solution for 1 trillion dollars of inflatable money... But if it's out there - we the people should have it... and if not, we should have our own money back... Washington says to AIG "give it back"

I think we the people can say "give it back".

Please forward the following petition link to everyone you know... and I am asking Mike Huckabee to bring it to Washington.

It just takes seconds to sign, and one email link to verify..

  2. In reference to banners:
"anything that suggests viloence or unlawful activity"

Heck, the Boston Tea Party was unlawful. Resistance to the Stamp Act was unlawful. Our founding fathers, which we love to quote so much, spoke of treason and defiance towards an unsympathetic crown, possibly punishable by death. Our nation was founding in unlawful revolt against the crown. Thank God they had the nerve.
The question is, will we do as the colonists and plea with our rulers to no avail? Or are there those willing to risk losing it all, risk persecution and prosecution in the name of liberty? In the name of the Constitution? It's beyond taxation. The Constitution is under attack.
In but one generation the freedoms we chance losing today will no longer be missed and our nations glory will be but a glimmer of what little of it remains today.

  3. Speaking on signs...can we have the traditional protest sign on a stick? Or are those verboten? I don't want to show up with signs and a flag on a pole and be turned away...

  4. Speaking of signs...can we have the traditional protest sign on a stick? Or are sticks and such verboten at the capitol building? I'd like to bring signs and a flag on a pole, but I don't want to be turned away for them.

  5. Is anyone aware of the fact that the Bob Basso, the creator of the Thomas Payne YouTube "We the People" series has been called to Washington? Check it out here -- http://wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=92999

  6. I heard one of your organizers on the Neal Boortz show yesterday then again this morning. She did a great job of going toe to toe with Boortz. I am very upset with the way Mr. Boortz treated her and I have relayed my comments to WSB.

It was apparent that Boortz is upset because the Tea Party movement has attracted much larger crowds and interest than the Fair Tax rallys.

Keep up the good work and I will be sending a donation. I don't like to enter credit card information online. Can you post an address I send to?

  7. I will be coming with a sign regarding Obama's complete lack of eligibility to be POTUS.
Are you intending that I be turned away?

  8. So now this has turned into a Sean Hannity FanFest. I see you have adjusted the times to fit into his schedule rather then fit ours. This is what I was afraid of when celebrities and politicians started getting involved.
Guess I will attend for a little while, but I don't think I will there as a stage prop for Hannity's show. I do have to go to work the next day and this is already taking place at the end of work day.

  9. We are fortunate to have someone as well-known as Hannity. That gives us more recognition, especially since there will be rallies all over the country.

  10. I plan on attending. I also plan on carrying a sign that reads: "Throw the bums out!" On the other side, I plan on listing the "Bums" ... Pelosi, Reid, Rangel, Dodd, and Murtha. It just happens these bums are Dems, but I'm a libertarian so I don't consider this to be partisan. I am a little concerned that at a rally which is the fortunate product of our ability to express ourselves that there would be any attempt to censor or control any sign that anyone wants to bring. Seems a little hypocritical.

  11. We should DEFINITELY have more latitude as to what signs we bring. In the overall scheme of things, raising our taxes is MINISCULE in comparison to the attacking of our CONSTITUTIONAL rights, such as speaking of banning certain firearms due to the LIE that we are the cause of the violence in Mexico (yet ANOTHER travesty much more aggregious and dangerous than taxing us - our givernment continuing to enabling the INVASION of our country by illegals and potential terrorists).
Our 1st amendment rights should NOT be infringed upon by our government, OR by the organizers of a citizen protest.

  12. We have to get control of our Government. If we are not focused on the thost important thing, getting rid of the IRS, we will not get anything done. If we are unable to get the FairTax implemented, then we are done! We need to make the change from our level (grassroots level). Once we get enough people to make the changes without elective officials, then we can "fix it". Constitutional Convention!

  14. I want to bring a sign that comments on the audacity of obama to call america arrogant...any problem with this?
Now he is bowing to a King & telling other leaders that we aren't a christain country..taxes are just a tip of the iceberg

  15. Big undertaking I know, but still no updates on county coordinators, buses to event, or whether or not logo'd shirts will be available? Only 1 week to go!

  16. would i be turned away if i brought a sign that reads:

  17. The key to having a capitalist solution is getting the insurance companies to resolve the existing problems. We do not need to go to the "government" to solve this! If they are not being bribed by big government then they need to open up competition country wide and do the right thing. Why are we debating this in washington????! This is our choice and our responsibility. I know there are restrictions in many states to insurance coverage, but that was NEVER voted on!!! GO FOR AMERICA!
